Noodlers Neponset

Noodler's Neponset

Color: Bengal Tiger (orange & black swirl)
Material: Resin
Filler: Piston
Date c. ca 2019
Nib: Steel F flex
Working? Yes

A really striking pen from Noodler’s, with a flexibe steel nib, and a big piston-fill barrel. Took a while to lose that infamous ‘resin’ smell that earned Noodler’s pens a lot of criticism, but still, a wonderful pen.

Delta Journal

Delta Journal LE

Color: 'Horn' (Cafe au lait swirl)
Material: Resin
Filler: Piston
Date c. ca. 2012
Nib: 14K Rhodium plated F
Working? Yes

Suprisingly, I think I love this Delta even more than my DV! It’s a limited edition, and it’s just a delight. One of the smoothest fine nibs I have ever used, it’s just a dream pen. Don’t confuse this with the matte finish line released a couple years later. I think they used the same resin, but the matte version is a C/C fill with a steel nib. I checked recently to see if I could find other finishes, but these are now selling upwards of $500! I’m so happy I nabbed it when I spotted it a couple years back, for a LOT less than that!

Delta Dolve Vita

Delta Dolce Vita

Color: Orange
Material: Resin
Filler: Piston
Date c. ca.
Nib: 14K F
Working? Yes

The pen that started my love of orange resin pens! I finally got my Dolce Vita! And just in time, for Delta closed its doors in 2017. They have since reopened, and one of their founders went on to launch the Leonardo brand (of which I am pleased to have a lovely example), but I am happy to have gotten this one from the ‘original’ Delta. Naturally, it’s a luscious pen, both to use and to hold.

Romus Demonstrator

Romus Demonstrator

Color: Clear
Material: Plastic
Filler: Piston
Date c. 2012
Nib: F 14K GP Steel
Working? Yes

It’s funny; I got this not too long after I got my Pelikan 200; both clear piston-fill demonstrators. The Pelikan cost me just over $200 (pen and replacement nib), and the Romus cost me $20 for three of them. So far, the Romus has gotten more use! I was stunned by the way this pen writes! It doesn’t have quite a solid a feel as the Pelikan, but it’s close. So far it’s been an exemplary performer! Highly recommended; you’d be hard put to get more for your money!

Reform 1745

Reform 1745

Color: Teal & Black
Material: Plastic
Filler: Piston
Date c. 1980s
Nib: GP Steel, F
Working? Yes

I first nabbed this as a ‘throw it in with your order’ for maybe $5. It was scratchy and dry and I ignored it for ages. One day I dug it out, did a little smoothing, a little flossing, and darned if I didn’t end up with one of the smoothest writers of any non-vintage pen I own! A NOS, still stickered pen from (I think) the 1980s, this little gem is a hidden gem, for sure. I’ve since snapped up a couple more when I’ve found them.

Pelikan 200 Demo

Pelikan 200

Color: Demonstrator - Clear
Material: Plastic/Resin
Filler: Piston
Date c. 2016
Nib: 14K B
Working? Yes

I finally broke down and grabbed a Pelikan demonstrator and immediately equipped it with a juicy 14K Bold (I think I went a size up, too, to a 300 or 400 nib). What can I say – it’s a Pelikan, and it’s a workhorse. My only quibble is I bought the nib in my ‘bolder is better phase, but in day-to-day writing, this darling doesn’t get as much use as it would if the nib were a bit smaller. But I love it!

MontBlanc 585

Mont Blanc 585

Color: Burgundy
Material: Resin
Filler: Piston
Date c. 1970
Nib: M 14K
Working? Yes

My first MB, and an appropriate one for that. Known as the “economy” MontBlanc (as if!) this is still a very nice piece of writing equipment. Thirsty piston fill and a smooth 14K nib. The screaming blue visulated section is a little odd, but this seems to be a solid pen that will get its share of use.

Lamy 99-Desk

Lamy 99

Color: Black
Material: Resin
Filler: Piston
Date c. c 1950
Nib: M Italic 14K
Working? Yes

Also NOS, in perfect condition. A desk pen with a slightly stubbier profile than my 2 Sheaffer desk models, but with a smooth piston filler, small visulated ink windows. Has a smooth medium-ish semi-hooded nib, but with an odd oblique to it that I don’t quite have the hang of (may be a lefty problem!) Still, a lovely desk pen, that fits perfectly in a black marble base I scored at an antique shop ages ago.

Date c. c 1950
Nib: M Stub 14K

NOS, in perfect condition, with sticker. Fantastic little pen, with a smooth piston filler, nifty little visulated ink windows, and a fairly smooth medium-ish semi-hooded nib.
